Boy's individual story (sorry I don't have it for the girls!)

4x800m-Terry Monette opened the race in a solid time, although Foley was in a poor position. Ben Duane ran a similar time to Terry, but managed to bring Foley into sixth. Chris "Rooster" Harper ran the third leg but the team slipped into seventh with Shrine's top 800m runner burning a large lead. A medal seemed out of reach when Steve Mance got the baton, but he managed to catch Shrine with 100m to go and then burned them on the straightaway for 6th. The victory was even more important since Shrine had been talkin' smack ;) all year, and beacause Foley was running with a blue Shrine baton that Monette and Mance had smuggled away from the shrine camp.

110mH-Shane Johnson placed 8th in the 110m high hurdles. Shane is only a freshmen and has shown alot of improvement and promise this year as the only true hurdler on the team. I don't have Shane's time.

1600m-Steve Mance and Terry Monette showed why the 1600m/mile has been one of Foley's better events in recent years. Steve took the lead after 1 lap and quickly gained a 40m lead on Cabrini's Mike Mueller where he would stay for the rest of the race and win in 4:51. Terry was in the chase pack the entire race and took 6th in 5:05.

3200m-The opening pace was brisk (72 secs) but it soon slowed and was rather pedestrian for most of the race. Steve Mance and Terry Monette were in the lead pack for the first 6 laps, often times running in positions 2 and 3. Mance, with 700m left, threw in a strong surge which would eventually result in a 20 second lead over 2nd place Mike Mueller to win in 10:57. Monette was strong through the last race of his career to place 6th.

4x400m-The mile relay, when stacked with Zimmerman, Znoy, Mance, and either Harper or Duane did not lose in a single dual meet all season, and was expected to be a key event at the league meet. Zimmerman opened with a strong first leg, followed by solid performances by Znoy and Harper, putting Foley in 7th with one leg to go. After Mance got the baton he was passed by Cabrini and OLL in the first 75m to put Foley in a dismal 9th. Mance then caught 2 more runners on the straightaway, and going into the final turn caught up to Cabrini. In a strong kick he blew away Cabrini and OLL to take 5th. Benedictine and B. Gallagher were later DQ'd and Foley was givin 3rd.
