University Ligget Invitational
Guys:5th of 10, Girls:5th of 13
Weather: 65 and cloudy. Course: Quite hilly with many turns, 282 meters short
We had our most succesful meet of the year so far at the University Ligget Inv., celebrating Ligget's 100th aniversary cross country season, in Grosse Pointe at Vernier Hill. The girls were 5th out of 13 without Katie Topalian, who would have been up with Angela and Laura. The individual girls had 2 medals, Angela Krolikoski and Laura Sorbo, both running in the 24s. Unfortunately Katie Topalian who was still the in medal hunt took a wrong turn and got DQed. The guys were very sucessul with Steve Mance in 2nd(17:16), Terry Monette in 4th(17:25), and Parker Turczyn in 12th(18:49). We would have been 2nd over all if Micheal Naimey(27th), the team manager, would have counted. The overall winner was Frosh Ray Perez of Redeemer, 3rd was Shaka Bahadu of Ligget, and 5th was Aztec Romero of Redeemer. Nearly all of our runners PRed on the short course. We take on Redeemer at home on monday.
